On May 9, an uproar broke out at Gaurishankar Hindu Inter College in Sikandra Rao Nagar over the poor quality of the mid-day meal. Teachers allege that the food distribution organization sent raw rotis for the children to eat. The teachers considered this food unfit for consumption and threw it away. Two months ago, insects had appeared in pulses and rice. Milk is also being sent in powder form. The Principal has complained about this to the higher authorities.
Let us tell you that mid-day meal in the school is provided by Baba Neem Karori Educational Institute, Hathras. On May 9, when the rotis sent by the NGO were served to the children, these rotis were completely raw and not fit for consumption. This food comes daily to the school for 66 students from classes six to eight. Mid-day meal in-charge Dhiru Verma alleged that a few months ago, insects were also found in pulses and rice. Because of this the food had to be thrown away. Milk never comes as per the menu. Whenever it comes, it is of powder. Children throw away milk without drinking it.
Children were not allowed to eat raw bread. Due to this, children could suffer from vomiting, diarrhea and indigestion. Verma said that written complaints have been made several times from the Chief Minister Portal to the BSA and the District Magistrate, but due to no action being taken, the morale of the organization is high. When we asked the person who brought the food, he said that our setting is upstairs. What will anyone do with us? School Principal Sanjay Varshney said that despite continuous complaints, the quality of food is not being improved. Food will be served to children only after strict verification.
